Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo declared a new Ebola outbreak after a new case was reported. A 31-year-old man was admitted to the Ebola treatment center on Thursday for intensive care but died hours later. The hospital authorities recognized the symptoms and submitted the sample for testing immediately stated WHO officials.

The country faced a third outbreak of infection in north-western Equateur province with 54 cases in 2018 and 130 cases in 2020. According to the health official, the positive news is that the country is experienced in controlling the outbreaks quickly and the officials have already started taking measures by conforming that the dead patient received a safe burial. This can reduce the risk of contagious fluids infecting others. The healthcare center where the patients received treatment has also been decontaminated.

Ebola spreads by contact with an infected person or through body fluids. It manifested into muscle ache, fever, and other symptoms resembling a severe malarial infection. In the past, the Ebola outbreak had a mortality percentage of 25%- 90%. However, new and effective treatments are available and the majority of the population is vaccinated against the virus in the country of Congo.
